ABOUT ME

The first story I wrote was entitled "Melvin the Mosquito." I was about eight, and Melvin was shockingly heroic for an insect. Since that start, I've been writing almost constantly in one vein or another--whether fiction, poetry, or academic scholarship.

I earned a PhD in English in 2021, and in addition to writing and reading literature I sometimes teach it as well. In my literary scholarship, I approach literature through a "phenomenological" lens, something I like to play around with in my blog as well (if this sounds pretentious rest assured phenomenology basically just means thinking about what it feels like to be alive).

As a writer, I love writing both literary realism and speculative fiction, but this website is focused chiefly on the latter. I am currently pursuing publication of my fantasy series The Silver Tongue, and I am wrapping up the last few chapters of Confessions of a Fairly Incompetent Fish-God, a comedic pseudo-translation set within the same universe and "written" by one of my favorite characters in The Silver Tongue

The best thing I've accomplished in my life is marrying my wife Holly in June 2022. We currently live in Denver with our weirdo cat Athena where Holly teaches literature and I tutor and write.
